Karen silver is only produced by the Karen tribe in Northern Thailand, where it is respected for its simplicity and beauty. The Karen have been crafting this silver for more than two thousand years. Karen silver is unique, in that it contains between 95 - 99% silver, when silver jewellery generally only contains 92.5% silver. The Karen believe that powerful energy resides in all natural phenomenon. This is why they take motifs such as fish, insects, and flowers from nature as inspiration for their designs. Traditionally the Karen wear these pieces as amulets to ward off demons.
